Why me and my friends went tits out in front of Trump Tower

The Doll’s Walk was some of the most fun I've ever had at a protest
If the federal government considers us trans women to be legally men, why shouldn’t we protest topless?
That’s what comedian Ashley Ryan set out to ask with The Doll’s Walk, the protest she organized and led last Sunday. Her goal was to show the absurdity of the government’s decision by getting trans women to show off our supposedly ‘male’ bodies, one topless trans woman at a time.

The protest was centered around a large model of a passport of a woman whose sex has been covered over to read “It’s a Boy”. It’s this absurdity that many of us see when our passports come in marked as male, even as our bodies are so obviously feminine.

This male passport was paired against the topless trans women who made up the bulk of the march.
We were able to march topless due to a quirk of New York State law: it’s perfectly legal for women to be topless in public. This allows us to make our point without the threat of legal trouble. If we are legally men, then we have no risk of legal problems with being topless. If we are legally women, then we might get dirty looks, but we can still show off while staying within the law.
The protest used that fact to its fullest. We marched along the edge of Central Park to get as many eyes on us as possible. Our destination was the place by the man who went after our passports, Trump Tower.
Earlier, Ashley Ryan explained her motivations to the crowd. “We are losing the battle right now”. “When your civil rights are taken away, you fight it through the courts. And guess what, we have, and we fucking lost.”
It was this fact that got her to protest outside the box. She decided that the best path forward was displays of the absurdity of the situation, such as a bunch of trans women marching to Trump Tower with our tits out.

When speaking to the public, she called the march our “gender reveal party”, where all the women present would reveal our genders (as designated by the federal government) “for the very third time”.
If the government wants to say that trans women are men, then it has no leg to stand on when we have our tits out. If they object on moral grounds, they are considering us as women
